Chap Goh Mei means the 15th night of Chinese Lunar New Year in Hokkien, which is also the end of the Chinese New Year celebration.

Although it is not an official public holiday in Malaysia. It is simply a very popular festival by many Chinese.

Chap Goh Mei also known as Chinese version of Valentines’ Day.

Young unmarried ladies will dress up nicely and go to the riverbank to throw mandarin oranges (write their names and telephone numbers on the mandarin oranges) into rivers.
